Health in cities and countryside

Just one century ago, only 15% of people lived in cities. Today, over 50% of people live in cities, and it is predicted that it will be 70% until 2050. City residents are supposed to have better life comparing to those that live in the countryside. They are usually richer, and they have more opportunities for career development. They eat different sorts of food, enjoy better health care and better hygiene. What about the health of one in such environment?

Health in cities

mother-1440745_1280Newborns in cities are larger and heavier, which could be a good sign at the start. But when doctors compared the process of pregnancy of mothers in cities and countryside, they found that those in cities have a higher level of chemically contaminated blood cells. It comes from pollution and industrial gasses. There is also water pollution and more risk of spreading contagious diseases.

City pollution and children

children-403583_1280City pollution can bring people to metabolic changes in children, which later lead to increased blood glucose levels and higher resistance to insulin which will help in case of diabetes. Children that grow up in cities rarely abandon their habitats and spends less time outside than countryside children. Today, only 20% of children plays on streets, while it the number was over 70% earlier.

Closed box

Spending time in closed rooms increase chances of a visual disease called myopia, which leads to nearsightedness, which later can lead to complete blindness, and the main reason for that is a lack of sunlight.

Allergy

Countryside kids, on the other hand, plays in mud, grass and jump over puddles and they are more likely to get defensive mechanisms against all allergens.

Mental diseases

Urban lifestyle, traffic jams and fast pace of living surely represent the root for many mentally based diseases. People in cities don’t create strong relationships with each other, there are too many superficial people who look at the world through visible features, and it is mostly connected with economics.

Fresh air

Air is most important thing for us to live. We can live a lot without food, several days without water, but not a minute without air. But, living and breathing the air depends much on the quality of it. Countryside air is full of oxygen, and that is why people there can sleep only a few hours and still be rested and ready for the new day, while people in cities often sleeps 10-12 hours and wake up tired and stiffed.

The main problem in the countryside is all about infrastructure, the closeness of
school and hospitals, the way of procurement of groceries, etc. But when it comes to a health issue, the list is just too short. People in the countryside may have to walk to the shop 2 miles, but if you think, wisely there is nothing wrong with that. People in cities must imagine paths and tracks through streets to take a morning jogging exercise.

Health problems in the distance

Well, the main health problem that can occur in the countryside is physical injury, and the distance to the nearest medical care center can be crucial at that moment. Anyway, today everybody has a car, so distances are more likely to cross than years ago.

Accidents

Many of smaller injuries are taken care by people in the countryside themselves without even contacting the medical center. When we talk about cities, we all know how often we see and hear emergency vehicle all around.
