Five Advantages of Music in Your Home Life

Many people enjoy music in their daily lives but might not realize how much it can enhance your home. Music can relax you, soothe an angry mood, or energize you when you are feeling tired. It can be a form of entertainment for all ages and help learn new things like languages or instrument skills.

I still remember how my granddad rocks out to black sabbath songs back when I visited him in California. He was geriatric and frail-looking, but if a rock song is playing, he somewhat can muster the strength to headbang, and I think it’s a miracle in a sense. So, what are the advantages of music in your life? Here are a few examples:

Music Helps with Relaxation

listeningI know music has the power to heal not just the soul but the body as well. If you want to relax, be it after a hard day of work or an exhausting CrossFit session at the gym, music is definitely something that can guide your mind and soul into taking some time for yourself and clearing all thoughts away. Music has been scientifically proven to lower blood pressure and create positive emotions in humans (study by University of Maryland Medical Center).

So, take some time today to play your favorite song and make sure you are alone in a room because it will be the only way for you to enjoy all the benefits music has given us indeed. Peace, love, unity!

Music Has Powerful Emotions

Music is one powerful art form that can touch our soul and most profound emotions that we usually hide behind our show of strong face. Music can tap into memories and make us feel like we are in a different time or place. If you know someone who is going through tough times, be it depression or heartbreak, listen to some songs that remind them of happier memories. Music has the power to bring people together and strengthen friendships (source: Association for Psychological Science).

Music Can Energize Us

Music Helps with Language Learning

Did you know that learning a foreign language is easier when it’s done through music? This has been proven by researchers (study: Krashen, Long, and Scarcella). I love listening to Spanish songs, and it helps me learn new words or phrases that I can’t pick up from my usual radio station.

Music Can Be Used for Therapy

Some people can benefit greatly by listening to music, especially those with mental health issues like anxiety (source: research done by the University of Michigan). If you think your child is going through a tough time and has difficulties expressing himself, try playing some songs that he enjoys. Music can be very therapeutic for people who suffer from mental issues because it allows them to release the emotions they’ve bottled up (study: University of Missouri).…
